The only way to hold anything is lightly, lightly, with open hand. To grasp, cling, squeeze tight, will only push the desired thing away. You must not take my word for it, however. Return to the beach and scoop up the sand in your cupped hand. Do not squeeze, grasp or hold tight. Where is the sand?

Random thought. . . every grade school child should be taught to ride horses. They cannot be fooled, they cannot be forced. It is impossible to stay on top by grasping or clinging. Only by relaxing and allowing one's center of gravity to rest securely in the center of the saddle is sufficient.
