Forbidden Fruit

Mangi-nambis

-
Droopy shoulders
Eyeing dirt
under weighty boulders
Lonely and hurt

where on earth
would pain
be something worth
like sunshine and rain

Reach out
To a helping hand
Offering just pot
Just for any thing kind

But that’s illegal
The pain to ease
E’en from an angel
When healin’s from trees……..

Jazz steals through
My hazy consciousness
Honky tonk true blue
My heart tries to dance

Tsk…blue sea beckons
From somewhere
Love’s a hidden beacon
Olosem kalibobo…ihait…mi no moa lukim…na mi no moa sawe….

Blue Dreams

Life’s picked me out
Off the big wide bleu
maybe with some doubt
I still have no shred of clue

hit the ground in the south seas
without any choice, I’s led on
the strangest of journeys
yet curious, fascinated, I’s drawn

I’s all innocence
Led through laughter lane
Discoveries made sense
Felt like that sailor from Spain

Flowers were exotic
Felt like I’s on a picnic
tasting forbidden fruits of romance
learning fundamental lessons

But soon came them pains
first tears stung worse then acid rain

then the scary drain
then through more teary rain
across the river of pain

For a while I’s insane

Passed the valley of shame
Then up the mountain of blame

It seems, to teach me the game
That has so many a name

In search of that holy grail
But trying to softly tread
was such a trial
trying to exorcise greed

without being the cause of grief
for all those I treasured
peace and joy now mattered
felt like a petty thief

was it an attempt in vain?
Ye know, ‘bout that fortune ‘n fame
‘tho I tried again ‘n again
What an elusive prize to claim

For fiery flames
May be the only thing to tame
This endless poem
That flows endlessly….trying to figure out this sad dream…………

through this hazy fog
of confused doctrines
obscuring the destination
I somehow still remember…e’en tho’ now a sad eyed old dog…….

…Ah! but that sea so fine…
…..With an island …….
….on the horizon……..
….with lots ‘n losta sunshine….
That still beckons….is that Zion?
