Yes it is possible to have bacterial infections while having sex during your period but it happens also if you don't clean up well even without sex. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a common case. Bacteria infecting the Unrine tract (tube that allows pee to leave the body from bladder). A symptom of it is inflamation during peeing. It can be cured by anibiotics. If you want my opinion, I'd say wait. 3-4 days is not a long time to wait plus when the day comes it'll be a wait thats well worth it.
