I saw the pic of the cover in USA Today the other day. I'm guessing he was drawn that way because it "staged" better visually. The question is, when enough people point out that Harry is really right handed, will it end up being changed like the "wand order" thing in the climax of GoF? When the visions of Harry's parents came out of Voldy's wand in the "wrong" order, compared to the order in which we'd always understood they died, it set off a firestorm of speculation among the hard core fans - maybe their deaths didn't happen as we thought, Lily died first, etc. etc. For a later edition of GoF, the mistake was "fixed" - I really really think Ms. Rowling wrote it the way she originally did because it was dramatically better to have Lily be the last one out of the wand to aid Harry, but then she was confronted by the reality that she now has the Most Obsessive Fans Since Star Trek (and I say that fondly and counting myself among them) who will notice every teeny weeny detail she puts in the books and catch any "mistakes" like this.
