The earliest such clasp that I can find reference to is in the fine Dowling and Hess book .

Page 309 (Ed. 2) shows an expanding rivet oyster bracelet with a Rolex emblem clasp date-stamped 2/51 (manufacturer 'Mecan').

I have a 1948 SpeedKing that came to me on this Gay Freres rice bead bracelet.
