I actually have one in stock, and had two already before this one. Have to admit the I sold the first one taking a serious loss, thinking there was something wrong with it!
Obviously back in the dark years for the swiss watch industry every dime was important...It does make sense that when Rolex informed Singer that there would be non more
orders for non-oyster PN dials, the dial factory figured it would be cheaper to adjust 6262/6264 dials to meet the new requirements. With a little fantasy, I could suppose
that the black ones were added the "oyster" line below the old "Rolex Cosmograph" because erasing it off a black surface showed to be not as successful as off the white one.
Of course, however, in this case it's hard to figure why they didn't just add the oyster line to the white ones too, making both colors look the same...
