...routinely exchange naturally patina'd (genuine Rolex) parts out for new (genuine Rolex) parts and that is perfectly acceptable here, it seems only logical that the converse should also be. The only question, it seems to me, is how to go about identifying and qualifying those naturally patina'd genuine Rolex parts from....well, the stuff that isn't.
