Response to What does the forum think about the proliferation of 'faded' inserts?

I would be happy to test all inserts for the presence of chemicals and I accept both new and old Rolexes as payment happy.gif

But seriously, would you ban a piece that had been relumed?  Would you ban a piece that had a DLC applied?  My little opinion is that as long as no one is trying to fool anyone and as long as the parts are original, then what is the harm? People often pay a premium for things that are new but look old.  One could argue that keeping a tritium dialed piece in the dark for many years to give it a deep patina is chemically altering it since you are not letting sunlight do its job in bleaching the dial or plots or vice versa.

I know I have no weight around here, but as an avid lurker and a former participant in a forum that banned and censored at will and with joy, I think the freedom to learn from this forum is one of the main prizes you receive when hanging out here.
