great new beginning...and it will give you the resouirces (emotional as well as financial) to enjoy the new adventure. I am down to just three watches...the one I love the most, the one I love second most, and the one I will sell when the right money comes along. There is only one watch I would buy...and that is a watch I owned once, let get away...and if necessary can live without. There are no other watches I actually want.
This is the result of deciding that I can admire something (even greatfully admire it...worship it) without needing to own it. I am now ready to start selling my art collection. I am already giving away many of my books. Then I will unload the antiques and give away the rest. If the real estate market ticks up another couple of points it will be time to sell the condo. Turn everything into cash and gold and stuff it in a swiss bank and live out of an atm machine.
The quickest way to regain one's youth is to lose the weight of possessions. I can't stop the world from becoming whatever it becomes. But if I can get my life portable enough to stuff into a small duffle bag, I will be free enough to travel wherever the winds take me. Living on a barge and drifting through Europe sounds like a doable life...room for a cat and a dog and a woman and a couple of bicycles, sneakers, jeans and khakis and tee shirts and a couple of sweaters and a sports jacket...a laptop and a pocket knife and a harmonica...and a couple of watches I love.
