This is my first time on your vintage Rolex forum. I was involved in the vintage watch business from its infancy in the early 1980's and was Vintage watch dealing in the UK until 2001.My family and I having emigrated to New Zealand in 2001 closing my specialist watch shop back then.
Now and again interesting watches turn up here in NZ.
This particular example has me baffled as I have never seen a similar model.
The silver hallmarks show it imported into London in 1924 .
Rolex stamped R.W.C. ltd INGERSOLL. Sterling Silver. Swiss Made. 75143.
The movement is a good quality 15 jewels movement stamped INGERSOLL and Swiss made on the winding wheels. The dial is a quality black porcelain with Arabic numerals which would of been luminous, hands are original which would of also been luminous. The watch is in superb original condition.
My initial thoughts are this was a contract case from Rolex to Ingersoll watch company, but my knowledge of Ingersoll is scare and I am only aware that they made Mickey mouses watches and watches with low quality movements around this period in the 1920's. This watch appears to be of fine Rolex quality and is similar to other 1920's Rolex cushions I have owned it is unlike any Ingersoll watch I have ever seen.
Could it be a collaboration between the two companies, or possibly a model named INGERSOLL?
If anyone can please offer any information or advice this would be most welcomed.
      Cheers,
      Kevin
