...what you're pursuing. If you're hunting a perfect PN and you love the look, then yes, the premium is worth it. If you're perfectly happy with a standard dial Val 72 Daytona, then it's probably not & you're most likely following fashion if you don't have a real yen for the PN.
In general, though, there is a reason why some dials/models have a premium over others and that is scarcity and the "prestige" the watch commands in the collector community.
But there's nothing wrong with declaring that sort of stuff total BS and being happy with a simple watch that truly speaks to you. It really all depends on what game you want to play & what you're trying to get out of the hobby.
