I'm already playing since a longer time with the idea of adding a Marketplace to my Rolex Passion Report website. I believe that my vintage Rolex friends around the world have done some amazing work, each by their own, to promote our beloved hobby. Those guys I call my close friends are sometimes dealers I admire by all the studies they've done and share in our community. The endless talks they all have had with their customers convincing the beauty of collecting, have made our market stronger and deeper passionated due to these 'trusted dealer and collector friends', to come to the point where we're now.
My intentions have always been pure, never tired of willing to explain the secrets and passion we deal with every day. The funny thing is, that although I myself hardly 'trade' at all, the 'Rolex market' sees me as such. Maybe because of my heritage Rolex projects but I've never told or promoted in our community openly for instance, I'm doing a shop in Maastricht selling vintage watches since 25 years. Now RPR ( www.RolexPassionReport.com ) is online, I get many questions of novice & professional collectors where they can buy 'honest' vintage Rolex. As I believe in a open and fair market, I decided to start a trusted market place that benefits everybody, next to my Passion Reports. To my idea of building up a network that covers the world of Rolex friends offering these vintage Rolex where I believe, many already responded enthusiastic! Watches that are not enhanced by look but are still as good as in the condition as how they've been delivered in the past are the criteria to get listed. The preservation we all aim at to have in our collection as quality, originality and provenance have become the keywords in our hobby. Only these 'honest' vintage Rolex that will be offered on RPM, will eventually gain popularity in the future. Not only collection & passion wise but in the long run, money / investment wise.
As many new lovers / becoming collectors, mostly missing the necessary information to decide between the offers, still have problems buying form private persons or dealers they yet haven't dealt with, it's become to big of a risk for these starters to trust their money to somebody's blue eyes and wait for the parcel to arrive. Therefor besides the best dealers around the world, I will add a category for my friends / non dealers that want to offer one of their collected Rolex into the market. So RPM isn't only about creating a platform for trusted dealers, but I also want my trusted friends / collectors to have the benefits offering their sales into the Rolex Passion Market.
As with the Rolex Passion Meetings, we're always helping out each other when it's necessary because we're true friends that have the same believes. This will always be the core intention of my Rolex Passion Market, together we can be one big happy Rolex family! Very quickly after sending my idea around, I got great responses by some 10 top dealers, that already cover most continents of the world, having the best possible references and are enthusiastic to help me built up RPM properly. Numerous collectors where also trilled about my idea having the possibilities of entering this high end market & collectors place! Soon, probably after the summer stop, I want to go online to offer you Rolex Passion Market, a safe sales corner, driven by honest & passionated Rolex lovers from around the world!
