Most of our Rolexes share the same family of movements. They may not be decorated but they are precision and do a wonderful job for many many years. They are no different than a fine car engine. While you are right to look for fair value in a watchmaker, as they said in the Ferrari club, buy cheap and pay twice. Find a watchmaker with excellent references and a demonstrated history working on Rolexes. Then pay his price and know that your watch has been properly cared for. And remember the watchmaker has his/her own expenses...taxes, rent, insurance, mortgage, kids who need food and clothing, a car that needs gas and repairs...etc., etc., etc.
