What a great event. I think I speak for all present, when I say that it truly was an evening to remember. Great company, beautiful setting, great weather, what more can we ask for? Oh yes, amazing- simply amazing watches!!!
Here's an incomplete photo montage, but it will give you other VRF members an idea of what you missed. I'm sure missing photos will be added by the other guests...
OK, so what is the significance of this first piece??!?!
Well, its no Deep Sea Special, and I don't even think its waterproof. BUT, this is the very first Rolex made- by Mr. Wilsdorf himself. This watch has been sitting in a vault at Rolex, and most likely has never been on display in public before. Very unassuming, but there is definitely something to be said about the first Rolex...ever.
The unveiling of the main attraction!
These guys are not shabby either!
Single Red Sea-Dweller
Prototype No-Valve Sea-Dweller with unique dial
A Trio of Patent-Pending Double Reds. (Including the ones on people's wrists at the GTG, we had 5 pieces...a record perhaps??!!)
The two Janus IV 501m Dive Watches. (Ex Raude and Ex Verpeaux)
Not pictured, but also on display were every variation of 1665 Red Sea-Dweller. Mk 00-5, and all 3 Luminova varietals!
The night was mostly about Sea-Dwellers, but there were other heavy hitters as well.
Some beautiful early Rolexes from the Rolex USA collection.
The "Original" Steve McQueen 5512 from the recent AQ auction.
What is this, a NOS James Bond sub?! =)
A six-pack of amazing 6541 Milgausses and Big Crowns
Other watches not shown here include PN's galore in SS and gold (The REAL kind, of course!), the best 6036 JCK ever in SS, as well as a NOS 6542 gold GMT, an amazing 3-6-9 5513 Sub, and other mouth watering babies. Basically- every watch you've ever dreamed of, all under one roof!!
