after Philip's input ...

--mk1 dial :

[linked image]
( the L in the word ROLEX is centered under the crown ; see also the very thin fonts of the letters "ft" )

--mk2 dial :

[linked image]
( the L is not centered under the crown )

--mk3 dial :

[linked image]
( the letter L is again centered under the crown )

details of the printings at 6 :

--mk1 dial :

--mk2 dial :

--mk3 dial :

comparison with the details posted by Philip :

[linked image]

besides some differences ( the white mk1 dial has finer letters than the others )surprisingly the
position of the words " swiss t minus 25 " is the same in all marks...
( keep present that mk1 and mk3 were made by the same dial-maker Lemrich , the mk2 is by Beyerle ).
so the different position of the T in the two dials posted by Philip ( if the one below is a mk1 for white 1680 as is different from the one posted by me ) depends on different cliche' used.

I was starting to think that white 1680s never existed.

There are only ever red ones in the Market.

Thank you for taking the time to dissect that.

LOL! Flashback to 1993....

February 4 2011, 9:54 PM

In 1993 I started collecting plastic crystal sports models. You know 300 bucks for a 5513, 500 bucks for
a 1680 etc....Seriously I had at least 30 white 1680's before I ever even SAW a red 1680! In 2002 about
25% of the 1680's were red. Now, the white ones are less common than the red ones that come up for sale.
I'm not drawing any conclusions just stating my observations as a long time collector and dealer.

IMHO, i think it is because the picture of the dial #3 is taken under crystal and all seem thicker..?

Best Regards,

David.

Of course Marcellol (as mentioned in my initial post) some

February 4 2011, 11:07 PM

MKx prints are obviously the result from different cliches
(for exaple when the crown is alligned differently)but my main point was that, sometimes what people
take for a MKx is just a technical consequence of a used
tampon, less pressure in the printing action etc...

ps : On another topic I cant wait for the result of... our mutual "action" happy.gif

Look at the position of the fonts, it is obvious >>>>>

February 5 2011, 12:30 PM

Just look at the position of the word "Certified" compared to "Chronometer" in the line above. I and III are definitely different. =) Dennis
