Err Buddies...for the 1st time...
Orchi comes across this Jubilee 18K Yellow Gold band...
with a BIG logo buckle marked "2 59"..."750"...
+ "MODELE DEPOSE BREVET SWISS MADE"
Its state of wear n tear conditions are still acceptable...

As there is no Rolex band Ref# n End Piece Ref# stamps on it...
Orchi wonders what would be the correct Ref# for this type of band..?
Could it be Ref 6311...?
End Piece Ref# ??

About the same time...Orchi was given this President for restoration work...
as its previous conditions were overly loose n worn...
the band was no longer wearable...

These are the pics taken after the restoration work was completed...
(After about 2 weeks or so...)

Apart from these Rolex hallmark stamps...
n the End Pieces were marked with "53"...
there is no Rolex band Ref#...
or any numeric Production Date code can be found...

However...it became more interesting to discover this Service engraving...
"3,45x,xxx" on one of its starter clasps link...
(This was a normal practice done by Rolex trained or well experienced watchmakers)
This year of production range of case S/nos....
could indicate that the watch(which the band had previously belonged to)
to be...year 1973...

Also noticed on this band...
there is the Alphabet stamp of "A"...on its clasps...
(presumably this is the Rolex Production Date code of the band)

This Alphabet "A" stamp...should it be found on other Rolex SS bands...
could mean the Production Date Code...= 1976 or "VA" as stated in the Rolex Band Charts...
published on many other reputable Vintage Rolex related Websites n Forums...
n to the understanding of many this is accepted to be the guidelines...

In those independently published Rolex Band Charts...
"B" = 1977 or "VB"
"C" = 1978 or "VC"
"D" = 1979 or "VD"...
n so on so forth...

IT is also a common understanding that Rolex might have stopped stamping...
the numeric Production Date Code on the Rolex Bands n Caseback covers as well...
after 1972...

Then Orchi wonders...what could have happened...or what methods did Rolex used...
to stamp n indicate the Production Date Codes of Rolex bands...
made from year 1973 to 1975...??

Orchi previously thought...these would seem to be the 3 years...
when Rolex did not have any numeric Production Date codes...
nor would they use any Alphabets to represent the Production Date of Rolex Bands...
Maybe so...because Orchi has seen quite often SS Rolex bands...
which do not have any Numerical or Alphabetical...
Production Date codes stamped on the Rolex bands or clasps...

Maybe Orchi was wrong to think so...

Maybe...with the discovery of the Service engraving of S/nos. on the Band...
"3,45x,xxx"...+ the existence of the Alphabet "A" stamp on the Clasps...
it could possibly mean that the Rolex Production Date of this band...
would be year...1973?

IF "A" = 1973...
then what about...from year 1974 to 1975...??

Perhaps these were the 2 years Rolex did not indicate any Production Date...
on their Rolex Bands...

Aiyoooooo!
or perhaps...these Rolex Production Date codes are just too confusing...!!!

Thanks anyway to everyone for watching...

Best regards
Orchi.
