"I currently have the 2 watches, one of them is the watch you are all familiar with and it has no papers.

The serial number of the watch I am selling on ebay is 2,916,xxx and the watch in question is 2,919,xxx. Although now I am thinking of stopping the auction due to the negative publicity"

BUT the pictures provided show both watches with paper. One shown 2,916XXX and the other 2,919xxx.

boys the watch will be sold paper or no paper..The so called police work..

October 15 2011, 2:08 PM

is insignificant..An experienced collector will point the paper issue out to the seller and a deal will be made. Regardless what went on here.
The watch is right and the punched papers are you like it or not an accessory such as a box or hang tag. So the ebay sale did work out, but another deal will be made privately or at a watch show.

Sold or not, it's not the issue

October 15 2011, 2:21 PM

it's unethical no ifs or buts about it.

Faking papers to get thousands $$$ more for the watch is beyond you know what. If one can fake the papers, God knows what else they did with the watch.

May we assume you add fake papers to all your watches because it's no big deal?

Just makes a pretty picture?

that and service papers...Rich all I am saying is that

October 15 2011, 2:55 PM

this is one example of hundreds of ebay sales going on..Once in a while for years on VRF we bring an auction from ebay to light and debate it..But in this case the punched papers were suspect, but the policing comment in my opinion was a little strong. Rich, if I was out of line I apologize.

But the current dilemma in my opinion, is how can we really tell later added punch papers form let us say factory case production punched papers?

October 15 2011, 3:05 PM

Slow down, Viper, you do not do yourself a favour with statements like this.

I mean really... whatever happen to honesty, integrity and treating people the way you wanted to be treated.. and not be blinded by$$$. If proven true, to use one's reputation to deceive in such a form is really dispectable.. I am deeply sorry to hear of this..

What if the hang tag is obviously the one that came with the watch?

October 15 2011, 9:37 PM

Say...with a more modern watch....

this is very sad news, i have allways bougth watches with "open" punched papers, when i tougth them to be correct to the watch

but this will make prices on watches with "open" papers drop and correctly stamped and dated papered watches will rise alot

and i guess the fakers will do dating and stamps soon to

regards

Christian, you are 100% correct..

October 16 2011, 5:08 AM

I have pretty solid evidence from some pretty solid sources (thanks VRF members), that the stamped and dated papers are forthcoming from the aforementioned sellers.
Keep an eye out for the sellers being mentioned and look for dates and stamps to now (shortly) be on all of the punched certs.

Once the blank cert scam cover was blown they had to change tactics, the stamps are coming, watch and see.
