I recall when I was 13 my Dad treated himself to a 2nd hand pepsi 1675. Mostly I remember the design from the clasp and that image has deep and positive associations for me.
Circumstances finally allowed me to purchase a birth year Rolex a few weeks back. Being uneducated with vintage I made use of the wonderful resource this forum is. Mainly I decided to buy the seller and Andrew Shear seemed to be held in high regard by a number of posters.
Its a 1.8M with a iv 67 caseback. I wasn't sure that I wanted patina so the dial is still creamy, almost white even. I am very pleased with the watch and once I can find a fat font insert, I think that will be it. I do hope I bought wisely! This was no small purchase for me.
Much appreciation to Richard and all the superb and enthusiastic folks who share their knowledge and experience here.
