HI, I have this 5508 and the case is cracked near the crown, have you seen anything like this? suggestions?

You’ll need to find a watchmaker that has a laser welder to have the case repaired. I don’t know anyone in particular to recommend but i’m sure that some of the members here will.

Laser repair may be very difficult if not impossible based upon the pictures. The problem is laser welders depth of penetration is not very deep (typically less than 1mm). Would not be able to determine with the pictures posted.

If I remember correctly the crack is deep and can be seen inside the case. I will open it and take more pics, thanks

I asked Geneva if they would accept lasering a Zerograph type of chrono
they answered that the quality of the steel used at the time (40/50) wont bear
the heat with a risk of melting.

Thank you! I guess that you didn't try anything else. So is not so rare to see Rolex case that crack, I just wonder what kind of force it takes to break something so compact.
