Up for sale is a beautiful 1959 5508 Submariner:
Excellent tritium service dial and hands have a light yellow patina (not the bright white usually seen)
Beautifully faded fat font insert
Bezel turns freely
Super thick case is wonderfulit does have a couple of dings from wear and tear but in no way the usually over-polished look and feel (not claiming it's unpolished, however)
Running strong and was apparently serviced 3 years ago (not by me / no receipt)--when not worn kept in an Orbita winder
Serial numbers are hard to read due to standard bracelet chatter but a few of the numbers are readableappears to be a 500,000 serial
Caseback is marked from 1959
Comes on a 1959 rivet band in excellent condition (most of the springs recently replaced)
One scratch on the crystal that I believe could be polished off (but I haven't touched)
Acquired from Steve Mulholland so it's from an excellent source
Happy to provide some references from VRF
Please let me know if you have any questions and/or for pictures-happy to take as many as you like.
Asking USD $11,500 net OBO (wire transfer or PayPal plus fees). Can only ship within the US, sorry--face-to-face deals welcomed in the Washington, DC area. 3 day full returns if improperly described/presented as above provided it comes back in identical condition. Open to full or partial returns, too.
Thanks,
Paul
