If you like your watches to be totally mint and with dials and hands that look like they left the factory yesterday then stop reading now!
If however, you like your watches with dials that look a little different and with LOTS of character then this may be quite interesting...
In vintage car terms we call it patina although some heathens have been known to call it rust!
Many dealers would describe this as tropical as it goes a beautiful brown in the sun. To me its not tropical but as this seems to be a constant source of debate at present I will let you make your own mind up.
This is a Rolex Submariner 5513 gilt dial that dates to 1965. It is a 1.2m serial and has a very very nice fat case, fat font insert, correct case back dated first quarter of 1965 with more service markings than you could possibly imagine. The movement is exceptionally clean with the last service by Rolex being September 2008 and the paperwork on file.
The dial and hands are certainly extremely patinated you will either adore it or hate it. I have to admit to it not being my thing initially but boy have I fallen in love with it over the last few weeks. It became my daily wearer just to see it in the sunshine!
The lume on the gilt dial and hands are all original and they still glow a very light green for a few seconds when charged with light and held in the dark.
Not for everyone, but those that it is for are going to love it!
