I think, it is worth mentioning that (most likely due to the original price difference) ref. 5512 Submariners were much less popular than their cheaper non-chronometer "siblings" ref. 5513. Eventually, this unpopularity led to the ref. 5512 being dropped from the Rolex catalogues... As a result, Submariners ref. 5512 are much harder to find nowadays, and the hacking examples -- being produced in relatively small numbers by the end of the production run -- seem to be particularly elusive.
Based on the case back markings, this particular watch has been to Rolex Service Center in NY in February 1981 and has been serviced at least twice since then by independent watchmakers. The luminous dot in the bezel insert still glows, so I understand that it is a more recent replacement. Dial & hands appear to be original and match perfectly in color.
I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story:
My price: $6k
The watch is currently in New England (USA) and a face-to-face transaction in Western MA / Northern CT (USA) is encouraged. Otherwise, fully insured shipping within the U.S. would be $35. For overseas buyers, shipping will be at cost and I would be happy to let the buyer choose the shipping method.
