SeaDweller 16660, 2 Subs 16800 Transitionals, 3 GMTs

Pictured above is Rolex Sea Dweller model 16660 dating to 1983 ( serial 829 ).
This was the first model Sea Dweller with the sapphire crystal, quick set date feature and ratchet bezel turning one way only.
Movement, a fast beating cal. 3035. In the first few years the dial was matte` black with
painted hour markers, no metal bezels around. The depth rating was also increased to 4000 ft = 1220 m.
Many of these early dials were subsequently changed during service to later variation that had the metal bezel around the hour markers.
This is the dial you see here even though this watch most likely left the factory with the earlier variant dial.
So if you source that earlier type dial you'll have a watch valued at more than $8000.
Also this was the first Rolex sport model to use solid end pieces for bracelet.
Priced here at $5800.
