Grays of Graysville, Floyd Co., VA

1794-1830 Edward Howard Gray, m. Mary Hugo in PA, and later moved to Floyd Co., Virginia. Started the settlement of Graysville. Had three sons b. in PA, and a 4th b. in Floyd Co., VA.

1794-1859 Edward Howard Gray, Jr., m. Mary, not positive on who his children were due to the large number of Grays who lived in Graysville area. Edward was born and died in Virginia.

1810-1890 John W. Gray, m. Mary Werts, they had several children. John and a good friend Chandler "Champ" Lester, started the town of Lester, Raleigh Co., WV. Champ's dau. Mildred "Millie" Lester m. William Edward Gray, a son of John W. Gray.

1836-1910 William Edward Gray, m. Millie Lester. William and his brother Jonathan, served in the Civil War, and fought for the South. Edward was born in VA and died in MO.

1859-1926 William C. Gray, m. Virginia Albina Swinney. William was born in WV and died in CA. For a period of time William and Bina lived in OK. During this time he served as a county Sheriff.

1889-1966 William Edward Gray (my grandfather), m. Ethal Lillian Thomas. William was born in MO and died in AZ. William grew cotton south of Phoenix.

1926-1999 James Alden Gray, Sr., (my father), m. Virginia Louise Cruise. He was born in CA and died in AZ.

1953- Jim Gray, m. Linda Gray. I was born in AZ and live in OK. Love doing genealogy and would love to correspond with anyone who is related to my line of Grays or to any of my related family lines. By the way my wife's line of Grays lived in TN.
