hi im currently about to order my second batch of these i have done a lot of research on phase 2 and believe them to be really beneficial.they are not an excuse to eat extra carbs and sugars. without going into too much detail i have followed the atkins and tho i lost a lot of weight i found it very constricting as i am a carb junkie. so now i follow the gi diet and supplement my diet with phase 2 (1000mg or 1g) usually with a small glass of water 15 mins before each meal. if the body cant break down the carbs then it cant enter the blood stream and if it doesnt enter the blood stream then NO insulin is produced. THIS IS THE KEY TO WEIGHTLOSS. I used to follow low calorie and low fat diets but couldnt understand why i didnt carry on losing weight. now i know it was because low fat means hi carb and usually the hi gi carbs.which in turn means insulin production, so even if your eating low calorie food the body will produce insulin, convert to fat and store every morsel. i taught aerobics for 8 years and was lead to believe that low fat was the answer. how wrong they were.phase 2 will prevent the majority of the starch sugars from entering the blood stream but if your eating simple sugars as well these will be absorbed and insulin will be released. insulin is the hormone that transports the blood sugars to the cells, liver and then aids the conversion to fat. so INSULIN is the middleman to storing fat.s excess sugar gets stored as fat.so if you arent losing weight you need to look at your whole diet. eat 3 to 5 small meals a day that contain no simple carbs (usually white in colour eg. white bread, pasta, rice potoes, sugary sweets or drinks etc.) you should only snack on low gi foods.nuts, apples get the book!! (low gi foods have minimal impact on blood sugar levels so dont encourage the body to release insulin. i know im being a bit boring but these do work but its important to have the right conditions if you want a faster weight loss.i have stuck to my gi plan for 5 out of 7 days a week and i mean stuck to it and its workin and phase 2 has helped give me that extra edge !!! good luck remember the low gi diet is the diet recommended by the nhs NOW after years of telling us to calorie restricting low fat diets. all food groups are important for the body to function properly the gi does work well and fast try it and see how youll be amazed how you dont have to count calories you can have your healthy fats and dine like a king and still lose weight the healthy way. good luck
