some input from college tutor

I spoke with my son the other day regarding tutoring and athletes...as I mentioned earlier, he is a tutor at a D1 school....

anyways, this past year, he got a job as a tutor for the school and tutors both athletes and non- athletes as a a part of his job. Surprisingly, he says athletes are the easiest people (generally speaking) to tutor.

because
1) they are focused
2) they have limited time, so they tend to be very efficient
3) they take their coursework very seriously

In general, he prefers athletes for the above reasons...

some imput from an academic athletic advisor

I guess he doesn't do many men's basketball or football teams then! But I do suppose that it depends on where the coaches recruit from.

My daughter is an advisor at a D1 school and it is all she can do to keep them eligible and in school. The stars feel that they can miss meetings, blow off their tutor and somehow someone will keep them eligible. Some of them are getting nasty surprises this summer. She says, however, that the female athletes on the whole do much better in school.

he is tutor for 2/3 regular students, 1/3 athletes..and he says there a few like that but the majority are good. Keep in tho it is a D1 school.it's not a major pointy ball school.
