Hi I am a Canadian citizen born and raised. I do not qualify for the TN visa seeing how my computer analyst diploma program was only 1 yr and I do not have a university degree either.... are there any other ways to enter the USA legally and work as a Canadian? I understand I can enter with a fiancee visa (my girlfriend lives there and is the main reason for going) I was just wondering if there were any other avenues to enter the States. Thanks in advance.

As a computer systems analyst, to qualify for a TN visa you need to have a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree or a post-secondary diploma (a diploma issued after two years of post-secondary studies) and three years' experience.

If you do not qualify for a TN visa, you would not qualify for any other work-related visa.

You could also consider a student visa or a J-1 visa. A J-1 visa would allow you to spend up to 18 months in the U.S. to participate in an internship / to receive professional training.

For more information on J-1 visas, you should contact an organization such as Council Exchanges (which has offices and partners around the world, including Canada) to learn more about the different types of J-1 visas.
