Hi,

I am a resident of the United Kingdom.But what I really want to know is how to imigrate to America?
I havnt been to America before, but i will soon plan for a two week holiday there.I will make a decision from there if I want to live there.

I have heard that America Is a very nice place to live, and for the future I plan to take America up for Imigration (As I really would like to get out of the uk in the future).

Nobody in my Family is a resident of America. I am the only one planning to hopefully immigrate there.

With the information I have giving you, I would really just like to know how to immigrate there from the United Kingdom?

If you have no family who can sponsor you for permanent residency, your options are to apply for an employment-based visa or, if you were born outside of the UK, to apply for the Diversity Visa Program (i.e., the Green Card Lottery).



If you were born in the UK, you are not eligible to participate in lottery unless
(1) you are married and your spouse was born in an eligible country,
(2) either of your parents were born in an eligible country, or
(3) you were born in Northern Ireland.

Hi,

I was born in the uk, so i know that I cant apply for the green card lottery.However my parents were born outside of the Uk. My dad was born in Mauritius and my Mum was born in the Philipines. Does this mean that though them I can get a Perminent Residency Visa?
How?? Do I have to go to the US Embassy here in the uk (london), what would I say?

You cannot use your mother’s country of birth to qualify for the lottery as individuals born in the Philippines are also disqualified from participating in the lottery.
As for your father, what UK immigration status did he have when you were born? If he was a UK resident or citizen, you cannot use Mauritius to qualify for the lottery. In order to do so he would have had to be only visiting the UK temporarily at the time of your birth.
