Hi

If I just got a US Permanent Residence visa and decided to come to the US looking for a job.

While looking for employment, is it possible for me to apply for or get any unemployment benefits when I first arrive or is there any waiting period ?

Thanks.

I don’t think you’ll be able to collect unemployment benefits if you have never worked in the US.

Eligibility for unemployment benefits, however, is governed by state law, so you should confirm your eligibility with the state authorities where you’ll be living.
