I will be picking my mom up from the Philippines soon to live with me. She just recieved her immigrant Visa. After she gets here, what is the next step I have to do to get her Green card and could I start this process now before she gets here? Thanks. -- Amy

Arrival in the US with an Immigrant Visa

Your mother should receive her green card in the mail automatically. It could take up to 6 or 9 months for the card to arrive. Also, any time she moves (until she becomes a US citizen), she has to submit Form AR-11, Change of Address Form within 10 days of moving. Failure to do so could be a ground of deportation.

Apart from that, there’s nothing else to do!
