Hi,

I am F1 visa student and F1 will expire in 2006. This summer I will finish my MS and from Fall 2005 I applied for PhD at other school. If accepted I know I will have a new I-20 issued by the new school.Since I will attend a new school my F1 visa will be still valid till 2006 ? And then what? What shall I do once I will start a new school? I do not want to go to my country to have a new F1 stamped in the passport because most likely I might be denied. Any advice?
I do not want to be out of status.

Best,
Sly

As long as you have a new I-20 from your new school and have otherwise maintained valid student status, you can indeed travel with your “old” F-1 visa.
