Congratulations on your job offer! You’ve cleared the first hurdle in getting a work visa for the US, but there is still a long path ahead.
Not all job offers will allow you to obtain a US work visa, so the very first thing to do is to verify with a competent US immigration attorney that you’ll actually be able to apply for a visa. Presuming that your position does indeed qualify for a visa, there are several steps to complete before arriving in the US to begin your work.
First, working with both you and your employer, your attorney will prepare and submit your visa application with the USCIS (i.e., the immigration authorities) in the US. Once the application has been approved, your case will then be transferred to the US Embassy in London, where you’ll submit a second application and undergo an interview. After the embassy interview, you’ll finally be granted the visa and then can travel to the US.
If you would like to further discuss your case with me, please contact my office directly to arrange for a consultation.
