Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Your getting married will have no effect on your H-1B renewal
In terms of actually applying for your green card, the best procedure to follow depends in large part on your country of citizenship and/or your place of residence. For example, for my French clients living in the US with H-1B status who marry US citizens, I usually file their cases directly with the US Embassy in Paris because they can have their green card in as little as 2 or 3 months. Otherwise, if you are going to file your green card application with the local USCIS office, the processing time in the US depends upon your place of residence. While waiting for your green card application to be approved, as long as you maintain valid H-1B status (after the renewal has been approved), you can continue to work and travel on your H-1B visa without a problem
If you would like to further discuss your case with me, please contact my office directly to arrange for a consultation.
