Hi, everyone!

I got a question for all of you who are planning to get your green card through marriage with a US citizen(my boyfriend is US citizen). We are planning on getting married right after my graduation and we have some questions regarding the affidavit of support. He does not meet the miminum requirements (125% of poverty line); on the other hand, I have worked during all my graduate studies as a teaching assistant and adjunct faculty during summers and I do meet the requirements ( I filed income tax returns for the last 2 years). Can we use my income tax returns instead of his? (he was in school as a full time student -that's why he cannot meet the requirements).

Thanks.

As long as you’ve been living together for the past 6 months, you can use your income for the Affidavit of Support.
