Dear Mr Weiner.

I just want to share my joy with you. I received my K1 based Green Card a few days ago. I am so happy to be I'm a resident, life feels better. Now here's the sad part. On the machine readable line across the bottom of the card, my middle name has been mispelled by one letter. They canged an "E" into an "A". I guess it's a minor mistake. However I don't want to deal with USCIS again. I mean not so soon after getting my card. As I will have to remove conditions in two years, I'm thinking of asking the correction at that time.

1) Is this a good idea? Will they correct it at that time?

2)Is there any penalty for keeping a card with my middle name mispelled by one letter?

Congratulations on getting your green card! From an immigration perspective, I don’t think you’ll have any difficulty in keeping the green card as is. If an immigration inspector at the airport questions you when you travel back to the US, you can just explain the situation and that you’re waiting to correct things when you file the I-751.
