What are my options now?

I moved to the US two years ago and married an american citizen. Love was grand at first and I even adopted her daughter who is my daughter as far as I'm concerned. Recently we seperated and are going to file for a divorce. My perm resident card expires in September and I still have the stipulations that I must remain married to her to recieve the ten year perm residency card.

As much as I want to return home to where I came from I'm obligated legally and as a father to ensure that my daughter gets the best she can. For my wife as a single mother, she cannot do this alone and I want to help provide the best I can.

What are my options for staying in the US? Ideally I would like to not have to use my adoptive daughter as a reason to stay as my ex-wife is convinced that I only married her for a greencard and the only reason I adopted our daughter is to keep it Surely there is another way I can continue to stay in this country to look after my daughter?

You can still remain in the US.

If you are divorced at the time of filing your I-751 petition to change your conditional residency status, you’ll have to request a waiver of the joint filing requirement, which makes it a much more complicated application so you should seek the advice and assistance of a qualified immigration lawyer.
