E3 Question

I am an Australian permanent resident and my husband is an Australian citizen. The legislation for the E3 visa seems a bit ambiguous - it says "The new E-3 visa classification currently applies only to nationals of Australia as well as their spouses and children."

Now I know I am eligible for the dependent visa, but am I eligible as the main applicant?

Australian permanent residents are not eligible for E-3 status. In your case, however, there’s a more interesting solution because as the spouse of an E-3 worker, upon your arrival in the US you’ll be able to apply for a work permit (EAD), which will allow you to work for any US employer without having to submit additional applications.

It will take you 3 months after your arrival in the US to receive your EAD.
