Four years ago, I had hip length, healthy, shiny hair.
I never used blow dryers and only rarely used hot curling irons. I washed my hair every other day and then braided it when it was partially dry.
My hair was thick, healthy and grew fast and would have gotten past hip length if I had let it.
About four years ago, I moved in with my boyfriend (I am 32 years old) Not wanting him to see me in my braids every day, I completely changed my hair care routine to this:
washing EVERY day
Blow drying until totally dry
Curling with curling irons
sleeping with my hair down every night
It happen so gradually that I didnt notice until a few months ago...that my hair is gradually disappearing!!
What use to be hip length healthy hair is now bra strap length, split ends, dry, and totally uneven hair.
I have not cut my hair. I cannot believe I have lost so much. My daughter was looking through our photo album a few days ago, and I saw a picture of what my hair USED to look like

My hair has not been layered, but it looks that way now.
I want my hair back. 2 days ago, I decided to go back to my old routine of hair care. I have a question though.......I have read that when your hair is uneven, the rest of your hair will shorten in an attempt to even itself out......how will I ever get it long again if the long part keeps shortening to match the broken off hair?
I color my hair, but only at the roots and have consulted with a professional about what product to use on my hair. Not coloring my hair is not an option, but any other advice would be greatly appreciatedz!!

Thanks for listening:)
