Response to Really Need to Go to RI or Center that treats Immune issues
.....SOME of the tests the reproductive immunologists ask you do to (e.g. the genetic tests like PAI-1, Factor XIII, MTHFR) CAN be done at any local clinic. Of course many of them CAN'T be (e.g. NK cells assay, HLAs, some ANAs, etc.) done at local clinics.
What I found through my experience was that our local lab was able to do SOME of the tests that the Dr. B.eer's Center ordered for me (which no RE had ever ordered before). And it was a lot easier for me to get these tests done at the local lab and then send the ones that couldn't they couldn't do to one of the speciality labs - we used Rosalind Franklin in Chicago and another in northern CA.
So I don't really think that we're saying anything contradictory Dee. I just wanted Hadas to know that some of the tests that an RI will order are available at local clinics - but obviously not all of the necessary tests are. But she's worried about cost (which I was as well), so I think it's important information.
