| Hi gals:
I have one more ivf cycle with my own eggs to go, set for Sept. While I normalize after my crazed breakthrough follie and 16 af....(another story!), I decided to see one last "crazy alternative" practitioner.
Now, I have tried it all over the years-- chiro, acu, etc. I have had some great experiences and some bad with all of them. But now, I am down to low funds and still paying back the D&C from my miscarriage...they call me every day to try to collect the money I am saving up to pay them!...(which they will get soon, as soon as dh collects his partnership disbursement...but I digress.)
I just came back from an appt. with a wellness expert who does it all -- nutrional counseling, body energy testing, chiro, you name it. I just did a cheap consult, and he feels that I have body inflammation, which you know, makes sense. I have chronic diarrhea which comes and goes, etc. He thinks that I may have food allergies, etc. He can't say for sure because he needs all these tests and bw, but that is what his guess would be. And he thinks that is why I miscarried -- that there is body and uterine inflammation.
But to do all the stuff over the next 4-5 weeks will be about $400-$500. What do you think -- is this worth pursuing? Part of me feels like this is crazy, part of me thinks it makes some sense, and another part of me feels like it is my last shot and I want to try anything within reason. But then, $500...ugh.
Two gals from my support group have gone to him and are having amazing results (they had different diagnoses).
What do you think? I am looking for both negative and positive feedback, so all is appreciated.

In the grand scheme of all the $$ we spend on IF.....$500 isn't that bad...that is a few ultrasounds or one 600 Follistim cartridge, right? LOL!! I'm crazy broke right now....but I might be inclined to try it if others have had a good experience with the practicioner. Certainly worth weighing the options. Let us know what you decide.

Sounds like there could be something to it. And if you know people who've had results with this and you have reason to believe (your bowel issues) that you could derive help from treatment for something you know is going on, then it doesn't sounds like you have anything to lose as long as the practitioner knows how to cope with you and TTC with ART.
Let us know how it goes. |

Is it $500 for the b/w or for the treatment? Depending on what the treatment is, I would maybe skip the b/w and just try whatever he is suggesting. If it cures the diarrhea that would be good even if it didn't help the IF. I agree with others, $500 isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things so maybe worth a try.

In my IF support group, we call him the witch dr, cause he does all sorts of stuff. He does chiro, nutrion, "energy work", lasers, body testing, you name it.
And, he needs the bw (either from his lab or my drs), which actually makes me feel good, cause it means he is looking at real data.
I think I will do it. I started filling out the questionaire, and there are some interesting congruencies, historically...interstitial cystitis, etc.
Thanks gals! I will just figure out how to pay for it now...don't think I can tell dh...err. He is supportive, but his mom went a little nutso with alternative stuff and he is pretty skeptical about it all. |

Hi Minniet,
I know it is a tough call trying something else new and different especially when the $$ have really been adding up. I think if it were me, I might go for it. He has references that you know and is using actual b/w as part of his data which I think is also a good thing. Remind me, have you been to a gastroenterologist before? I thought you mentioned in your first post on this something about bowel issues (or maybe I am just thinking of my own!). But if you are having some bowel issues...it may be another thing to look at. Yes, IT SUCKS! But, he does sound like he might be worth a try. If I knew of someone like that near me I would probably do it (and may try not to tell DH about the cost...which I know is bad of me...but it is not a huge, huge amount-not worth a fight).
