I'm a Cooper patient trying to get my second IVF off the ground. After doing estinyl/provera for a cycle, CD2 FSH was 5 (yay). They had me continue the estinyl once a day and start stimming. Well, my E2 never got above 20. So, they had me stop the stims but continued to monitor me since I had 3 follicles to see if my body naturally starting working (yeah right). And they kept me on the estinyl and even bumped me up to 2x a day once my natural FSH started kicking in and it went above 10. Dr. Choe told me they want to see my E2 rise naturally a little and then will give me a 'boost' with stims. Well, that's not happening, and the 3 follies are still just hanging out at the same size they were at before (9,8,5). Nurse said they will let me go for practically a whole 30 day cycle before moving on to the next one.
I was reading the LH post below and Christine's response about estinyl oversupressing poor responders. Why would Dr. Choe be keeping me on it if that is what is keeping my follies from growing? I'm trying to understand their protocol and figure out how to make my follies grow (if not this cycle than next). Thanks!
I took estinyl once and while my follies grew, I had way less follicles than I normally have. I think in some women it does suppress so maybe you can go off it for awhile. Will they give you stims without estinyl at all?
This really puzzles me but I know there is one doctor there that will keep you on estinyl..it might have been Choe who did it to me but I can't remember.
They did it to me once where I stimmed and took estinyl for a week and my cycle could not recover - cancelled. Excuse my French by why the h#!! would they have you continue on estinyl when your FSH is at 5!? The whole point of estinyl is to suppress your FSH to less than or equal to 10 and that is what it did! You stop it once you are there!
I asked both Dr. Check and Dr. Braisle if estinyl can oversupress you and they both said yes, it can! Dr. Braisle said she would only have me take it every other day since I am very sensitive to it.
I don't know why Dr. Choe would have you continue on it. Weird!

I think the point is to keep your natural FSH below 10 even after you've reached 10 at the beginning of the cycle. So you can not simply stop estinyl once you are there - if you do, FSH will surely go up.
I can see some logic in increasing the estinyl dosage if they want to keep your natural FSH below 10, given that your current dosage is not doing it. But no idea if this is a good approach and whether it might be oversuppressing you at the same time (through something other than your FSH)...
