i made a post yesterday about my situation. im still getting a feel for this board so i might be a little choppy. (and i also have this new netbook which messes with my typing!!).
so i posted yesterday about my FSH being 12.3 on CD3. i will be 32 June 1. im playing phone tag with the nurse re: my AFC and my AMH. (SO looking forward to the upcoming many months of phone tag with the nurse). my RE suggested we do IVF straight away if we want more than one more child. if not, he suggested we do clomid next cycle and possibly the cycle after that, if my 7dpo P4 this cycle isnt terrible (i am 1 dpo right now) and if my husband's count is okay. the reason he wants to give clomid try is bc 3 years ago i got pregnant on the first try with it, which just happened to be my first cycle ovulating after 6 months of NOT ovulating due to hypothalamic ammenorrhea. i had the hyp and had to gain some weight in order to cycle again. onc i did i used clomid, and got pregnant with my son. so my RE said that my FSH issues could have been present then, but was masked by the hypothalmaic ammennorrhea, bc i had low E2 on CD3 of my pregnant cycle, along with a lower than average follicle count for clomid. this is why he thinks clomid might be worth it for a cycle or two, and if it doesnt work, IVF would be next.
my question is, i have read that high FSH combined with a low AMH (which im still trying to find out), combined with a low AFC, isnt a good recipe for even IVF. that it means one might not respond well. so im wondering if i should even pursue it. i know these clinics need to make money and i hate to think of it like that, but i know it's true. should i get a second opinion? my RE is very good, he works along side that Brian Kaplan from Bill and Guilliana....not that that means he's super good, but he does have a lot of credibility. im sorry this is so long. i will keep it shorter in the future and give support when i start learning more about this stuff. up until this point in my life, it's been all about LH, E2 and progesterone!!
