FSH Question

I am new to this website and haev a couple questions. I am 30 years old and recently found out my FSH level is 9.9. I was told it may be hard to concieve and was heart broken to hear so. I am definitely going to try though. I wanted to know if 9.9 at my age is bad? If for some reason I can get pregnant, then what would be my chances of having a second child in a year or two? Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, not bad.

I guess it is a little high for a 30 year old. But you are young and probably have really good quality eggs. You may not have as many as the average 30 year old, but I don't think that means you can't have a baby now. It just means you probably shouldn't wait until you are 39 happy.gif

9.9 is not considered high FSH. If you get pregnant and have a baby in the next year or so then you can probably try again soon after that baby and your chances would be good for having another.

Have you had any monitoring done?

Have you had any monitoring or treatments done? More telling than FSH is your Antral Follicle Count (AFC) which is done on day 3 of your cycle (CD3). A vaginal ultrasound is done and the tech/nurse will count the number of antral follicles on each ovary. Here is one doctor's insight on AFC (Dr. Sherman Silber):

How long have you been TTC or off BCP? Will you be doing fertility treatments (if you haven't already started)?

Your FSH is not that high. Maybe a little high for 30, but nothing to lose sleep over. That being said, I would request an Antral Follicle Count and an AMH test. Both of these test will give you a better idea of your ovarian reserve and let you know how agressive you should be in terms of treatment needed, if any.
