Report of the Working Group on the Review of Speed Limits

A Working Group, established by the Minister for Transport in February 2003, has carried out a comprehensive review of the present speed limits structure. The review, pursued against the background of plans to provide for the metrication of speed limits by the end of 2004, addressed all elements of the speed limits structure including the range of speed limits deployed, signage policy and the appropriateness of the various elements of the current system for the adoption and application of speed limits. The report and recommendations of the Working Group were presented to the Minister for Transport on 2 October 2003.
