Metric measures

A little advise for metric users. Don't fall into the trap of buying dual measurement devices if metric only are available. If not ask for it. Dual tapes are cluttered with numbers and divisions you dont need. They only distract you and make it difficult to mark exact distances you want. Look at metric only tapes and notice how easy it is to read mm and cm compared to dual ones. Best of all you will be comfortable with metric units in no time.

I agree.

If you have any problems buying metric-only measuring devices, buy them whne you are next abroad.

If you find it difficult to differentiate between your backside and your elbow, or you need help when it's feeding time, buy a tape with not many numbers on. Then you won't have to delay all your work because of measures with other numbers on that you can choose to use or ignore but cannot because those other numbers are there.

Also, do not buy anything - just incase the instructions shown are in non-English as well as English.

And never

*NEVER*

drive in Wales, as you will crash straight away.

However, if you are "normal" you can completely ignore this totally useless thread!

ROTFL!

Euric has evidentally gone from posting as my name in reverse to just using my name.

To avoid confusion - proof of posting can be sought from clicking my name to ask via email.

(LOL! *WHAT* a complete loser!)

Don't worry about him, he wants to bring everything to his lowest common denominator.

My laughter was about the idea that someone can be proud of a measuring tape!

What makes it more hilarious is that the pride is based upon the fact that it offers one, rather than two measurement standards on it.

Pride?

Are you sure that you mean this?

BTW - I proudly did 23 MPG on my way back from Wales last night.

Each mile filled me with enormous pleasure and each gallon brought a rosy glow to my cheeks.

Only because it was in imperial, you understand?

Only a fool needs to two incompatible systems of measurement where one will do.

Ooh, sorry to hear that Steve. Must have made your bum really sore by the time you got home. Try some calamine on it.

LOL! I like! I like!

Anyway - to your other quote: "Only a fool needs to two incompatible systems of measurement where one will do"

So if I get an instruction with just inches, or just cm (which regularly happens) I would not be a fool if I only had one system on my tape. Because I could go out and buy a calculator and make the conversions?

I'd rather "foolishly" choose the correct side of the tape I'm using!

By the way - I have some sheep repellent if you need it (look above)!!
