More American products going metric

Recently in the US, I saw Star Kist tuna fish sold in
foil pouches rather than in the cans, that they've
been sold in for years.

What I was happy to see is that the pouch was an even
200 g in mass. Examples of the packages can be seen
at:

http://www.starkist.com/products/pouch.html

Even some manufacturers know that when they market
a new product, they should use an even metric size
from the start.

And the reason:

Packaging in rational metric sizes usually occurs because the packaging
equipment is manufactured in Europe. This was true many years ago with the advent of aseptic packaging (juice boxes and such).

As I said before. Each time the US imports a foreign product or machinery they are importing a metric product and helping metricate America even if they are unaware of it.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Rational metric sizes". What exactly does that mean? Does the author who wrote those words even know what he meant by them.

Rational metric sizes means sizes using rounded numbers in metric. Like 200 g instead of say 196.5 g.

Even though non-rounded numbers are not a problem when using SI, they are a problem when using imperial. Thus we help make imperial more difficult when we chose to use rounded numbers in SI at the expense of using non-rounded numbers in imperial.

It also shows that the metric sizes are the primary sizes and imperial, if they exist at all anymore, are just the afterthought.

Will he ever learn??

"As I said before. Each time the US imports a foreign product or machinery they are importing a metric product and helping metricate America even if they are unaware of it.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

AS is "YEs!!! The people of america, just like in the UK now converse with each other in metric because it says so on the side of a tin".

When will you ever get over that codswallop Carly?

I expect to see more lies "proving" that the US is now metric over the coming months - possibly with the new and untested method of pasting huge wathes of rubbish from websites. Know what I mean ? ;-)
