Ok, I admit it, always liked (and still do) the irreverent Captain James T Kirk and his cast of merry men. When the first movies came out, I was happy to se the guys again but somewhat underwhelmed in terms of being enchanted and entertained. Time goes by, Next Generation, a bunch of other stuff running under the Trek banner. I didn't really follow any of it. I think I saw the first Next Gen movie and twiddled my thumbs throughout.

So here we are, JJ Abrams at the helm and its a movie!! Its entertaining, endearing, and far more fleshed out than a Trek movie would seemingly have a right to be. The casting is spot on, especially Jim McCoy. The showing I was at, the audience applauded at the end of the film. Applauded. In a movie theatre.

If you ever liked Star Trek, go see it.
