The thing I absolutely love about John Sanford is that his recurring detective character Lucas Davenport got old just like the rest of us, and is no longer his main protaganist. That job now falls to Virgil Flowers, a detective who lives in Davenports world and in fact, works for him. Heat Lightning is a whodunnit of fine proprtions written in Sanfords usual easy to swallow style. Sanford is one of the best and HL is another fine effort.
