New Pixar film, only recently did this film even get onto my radar (last week) so when we watched a trusted reviewer give this a 4.5 out of 5, we thought, let's. Turned out he may have been a bit of a low baller. It's the best film I've seen in some time. I haven't laughed this much at a picture since the last Pixar film, maybe Knocked Up. Also, there is nothing wrong with it but what does it say about the current gaggle of filmmakers that it takes a cartoon to cause a 48 year old man to tear up in a theatre? There is an opening sequence, about 8 minutes long that details the life of our hero, from childhood to the present. Just see if you can watch that and maintain your composure.

Lastly, there seems to be a lot of theatres running this as a regular film, hold out and see it in 3D, its way worth it although, truly, it doesn't need it to soar.

Something about the characters - not overdone or saccharine - that won me over. I think there were at least three separate teary occasions for me.

And, Ed Asner! Still alive!

I generally find Pixar movies to be okay, a lot better than a poke in the eye. But, this one just completely charmed me.

I repeat, you and John Updike would get along fine, hmm, I last read Vonnegut when I was in my 20's, maybe I should give him a go again instead of merrily dissing him for the hell of it.
