I've had this on my shelf for years; I shouldn't have waited so long to read it. Sweet, moving and honest, without falling into moroseness. Kind of reminds me of Haven Kimmel's memoirs.

As far as a memoir goes, this one deserved to be written, they should erect a monument to that woman for crying out loud. As for the writing, a little better editing would have helped and perhaps a little artistic liscence would have gone a long ways. Although, I'm thinking maybe a little went on anyhow, some of those wins were fantastically of the just in time variety.

I enjoyed it. My wife, thought it wanting.

ps, it's really too bad that Ohio never legalized necessary husband killing, because methinks Kelley needed it despite the need for his paycheck, or the portion of it he didn't drink.

I think all memoir involves license. I mean, by the time it's your "memory," it has already been distorted, and I will remember it differently anyway.

If you like memoir, try Haven Kimmel's. A Girl Named Zippy and She Got Up Off the Couch. I would kill to write like that.

And, yes. That husband was pretty worthless, for sure.
